A Veterinary Clinical Pathologist and Clinician Scientist

Dr. Candice Chu is an ACVP board-certified veterinary clinical pathologist. She earned her DVM at National Taiwan University (2013) and her PhD in Veterinary Pathobiology at Texas A&M University (2018), where she also completed her veterinary clinical pathology residency training (2021). She was the Assistant Professor of Clinical Pathology at the University of Pennsylvania (2021-2023).

Dr. Chu has a strong research background in microRNA biomarker discovery, bioinformatics, and AI/digital pathology. Her research endeavors and excellent oral/poster presentation skills were recognized by the 2016 ACVP2017 ACVP, 2017 ASVCP, 2019 ASVCP Young Investigator Awards, and the 2020 ASVCP Share the Future Presentation Award. She received the 2021 Davis-Thompson Foundation Pathology Trainee and Scholarship Award, demonstrating her superior scholarship, exceptional diagnostic skills, mentorship, leadership, talent, and enthusiasm for teaching. She also received the 2020 ACVP Harold W. Casey Scholarship, a prestigious award that each year recognizes one outstanding pathology trainee (anatomical and clinical) who strives to achieve ACVP certification in North America.

Besides research, Dr. Chu demonstrates a commitment to teaching veterinary cytology innovatively. In 2018, she founded the popular cytology teaching Instagram page - Vet Clin Path Resident, also available on FacebookYouTube, and X/Twitter.
