📝 Publication: Former student worker Wei-Chien Kao's first-author paper, Artificial intelligence–based detection of small and intermediate-to-large lymphocytes for cytologic diagnosis of canine lymphoma, is out in Veterinary Pathology — a YOLOv11 model trained on smartphone photomicrographs of canine lymph node aspirates that correctly inferred the diagnosis in all 14 test aspirates.
👩🏫 Upcoming: Dr. Chu teaches the afternoon session on vibe-coding tools at the AI Jumpstart Bootcamp, run by the Texas A&M Institute of Data Science with High Performance Research Computing.
✈️ Committee: Dr. Chu attended the fall in-person meeting of the AVMA Task Force on Emerging Technologies and Innovation, working on AI literacy resources, a framework for ethical AI use in veterinary practice, continuing education, and collaboration with academic researchers.
📝 Publication: PhD student Yumi Chang's first paper, Applying artificial intelligence to automate clinical data extraction from veterinary electronic health records, is out in the Veterinary Pathology special issue on artificial intelligence — open access.
